Defender Adam Dugdale and midfielder Danny Shelley have signed contract extensions at Crewe Alexandra.

Shelley, 20, will stay until the summer of 2012, while Dugdale, 23, has signed a deal until the end of the season.

Dugdale began his career at Crewe and dropped into non-league football before returning to the Alex in July.

"It's all that I've been working towards and I feel like I've been rewarded for all of my hard work," Dugdale told BBC Radio Stoke.

"The hard work doesn't stop all of a sudden, it just makes me want to push on even more to try and cement a place in the team.

"I've spent a lot of time on the bench so this is my chance to try and stay in the team."

Dugdale, who has made nine appearances during his second spell with Crewe, came off the bench to score the winning goal against local rivals Port Vale on 15 January.

With David Artell injured, he is set to start alongside Patrick Ada in the centre of defence against Aldershot on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Shelley has struggled for first-team football this season but has impressed manager Dario Gradi enough to earn a new contract.
