Gradi 'has work to do' at Crewe

Dario Gradi
Crewe have won twice in seven games since Gradi's return to the dugout

Caretaker manager Dario Gradi says he understands the size of the task ahead of him after watching Crewe lose 2-1 at home to Morecambe on Saturday.

The Alex have lost nine of their last 11 matches in all competitions.

"You've heard the crowd, that's how they are these days and I accept that," Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke.

"If I'm not wanted, I'll be told. But I want to do it. I've got something to work on, but perhaps I've got to do a bit more than I thought I had."

Crewe are currently 18th in League Two, six points above the relegation zone.

Substitute Steven Schumacher netted in the second half against Morecambe, his fourth goal in his last six appearances.

Gradi conceded he probably should have brought the midfielder straight back into the team, after he missed the FA Cup first round defeat at York because of injury.

"He's got a great record of scoring goals from midfield," added the 68-year-old. "Maybe I should have played him from the start. That's something I'll think about."
