Crewe need to win ugly - Walton

Crewe midfielder Simon Walton believes the Alex need to start concentrating on doing "the ugly things" well to turn their results around.

Crewe have lost eight of their last 10 matches and were knocked out of the FA Cup by York City on Saturday.

Walton told BBC Radio Stoke: "We're good at the pretty side, but there's two sides to every game.

"It's not always the football side that wins you the game. We've got to address that, and I'm sure we will."

Crewe had led their first round tie 2-1 with seven minutes to go, but conceded two late goals to the Blue Square Premier side, taking their tally of goals against to 34 in 18 matches in all competitions this season.

Walton, who came back into the Crewe team at the expense of the injured Steven Schumacher, admitted that he is sweating over his place for the home game against Morecambe on Saturday.

"I've been patient and it's been very difficult. I've come back into the team and we've lost," said the Plymouth loanee.

"It seems like you get over one wall and you hit another one. But I'll keep going and just try my hardest. That's what I'll do as long as I'm here."
