Midfielder Rix leaves Crewe Alex

Rix made his Crewe debut as a 17-year-old in 2001

Midfielder Ben Rix has had his contract with Crewe Alexandra terminated by mutual consent.

Rix, 25, who progressed through the academy at the Alexandra Stadium, made 159 appearances for the club but has featured just seven times this season.

Chairman John Bowler told the club's website: "Ben has been a fine servant to the football club.

"He hasn't been able to establish himself in the first-team and feels he needs a fresh challenge."
