Ryan Lowe has returned to Chester City on a three-year deal after being released by Crewe Alexandra.
Lowe, 29, who left the Deva Stadium for Crewe in July 2006, spent two years at Gresty Road, but ended last season out of favour on loan at Stockport County.
The adaptable Liverpool-born forward hit 12 goals in his first six months at the Alex but struggled to hold down a place when Steve Holland took charge.
Lowe originally arrived at Chester from Shrewsbury Town in March 2005.
