Crewe boss Dario Gradi has welcomed striker Nicky Maynard's decision to extend his stay at Gresty Road to 2010.
Maynard has been on top form for the Alex this season
The 19-year-old, who has scored 11 goals this season, has been the subject of much transfer speculation.
But Gradi told Alex's website: "Hopefully this will put a stop to the nonsense in the newspapers and allow him to settle down and play football."
Meanwhile, defender Jon Otsemobor, 23, has been transfer-listed after rejecting a new deal.
Crewe will look to sell Ostemobor, who has also been stripped of the vice-captaincy, in the January transfer window rather than lose him for nothing when his contract expires next summer.
Gradi added: "We have put a circular out regarding Jon but I would imagine his agent has been doing that behind the scenes for a while."
