Crewe have closed their training ground to stamp out the spread of a suspected case of viral meningitis.
Goalkeeper Ben Williams is being monitored in hospital after being sent home ill from training last Friday.
Williams complained of a cold but is being watched by doctors as his illness is more serious than first thought.
Crew boss Dario Gradi decided to stop training until Thursday on the advice of a doctor to prevent other players contracting the virus.
However, the club does not expect any other squad members or staff to fall ill.
