Crawley Town get Broadfield Stadium lease from council

Crawley Town

Crawley Borough Council have agreed to lease the Broadfield Stadium to Blue Square Premier club Crawley Town.

The Reds now have total control of their pitch maintenance, cleaning and utilities contracts.

Co-owner Susan Carter told BBC Sussex: "It will give us a lot more opportunities and freedom to progress the club, to control our own destiny.

"It's taken an awful lot of hard work and time, we've had to show good governance to the council."

She added: "We've worked hard with them and continue to work hard with them.

"We're putting together a master plan together going forward so there's still a lot to do, but we're looking at different opportunities, different development potential here.

"We realised that have a club that was capable of going forward and meeting all our our ambitions, then we had to change the model and we had to have control over our destiny and our income and that's what this will give us really."
