Midfielder Rusk joins Crawley

Midfielder Simon Rusk has become Crawley Town's fourth signing in the space of 24 hours.

The 27-year-old, who was released by York City earlier this month, played under Crawley boss Steve Evans at Boston United.

Evans told the club's website: "Rusky was someone we tried to get this time last year but York City made him a great offer.

"We have monitored him this season and he has been excellent."

Rusk, who has also had spells with Peterborough and Northwich, has made 40 appearances for York this season.

His arrival at the Broadfield Stadium comes after midfielder Eddie Hutchinson and strikers Jefferson Louis and Charles Ademeno joined Crawley on Tuesday.

"The boy will be a superb signing for us and I do not use these words lightly," added Evans.

"He has immediate family just up the road from Crawley and perhaps that also had an influence but the fact is that he has joined us."

And after adding four new faces in less than day, Evans said he is happy with the way his squad for next season is taking shape.

"Our squad for the new season is taking shape very nicely and we will continue to do our business in a silent but effective way," added the Crawley boss.

"We have signed four new players, each of them were first choice signings from the list Paul Raynor [Crawley assistant manager] and I presented to our board of directors in April.

"We are obviously delighted at the progress we have made but there is till work to do."

"There may be a few more new faces and that is something we are working hard at.

"However, if I had to go with the squad as it is now then I would be happy to do so," he added.
