Crawley midfielder Paul Armstrong, 27, has left the Conference club, who are in administration, to join Conference South side Eastbourne Borough.
Defender and players' representative David Woozley recently admitted that cash-strapped Crawley's players were all actively seeking other clubs.
Armstrong had made 30 Conference appearances for the Reds last term.
Eastbourne boss Garry Wilson has also signed striker Allan Tait, 25, from former Conference club Canvey Island.
The other new arrivals at Priory Lane are midfielders Jay Lovett, 28, from Lewes, and Duncan McArthur, 25, from Hastings United - and 22-year-old Hassocks striker Paul Harding.
