Marlon King advisor denies Coventry City deal claim

Marlon King
King ended the season with 13 goals in 29 appearances

Marlon King's advisor has played down claims by Coventry City that the striker has verbally agreed a new two-year deal with the club.

Last week Coventry announced that King had agreed to sign a contract.

Chief executive Paul Clouting told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "We are delighted Marlon has shown loyalty."

But King's advisor Tony Finnigan says that the player has rejected a two-year contract and is waiting for the formal offer of a three-year deal.

Finnigan also revealed that a number of clubs have expressed an interest in the services of King, who joined the Champiobnship club following his release from prison last September.

The former Watford and Wigan hitman finished last term as Coventry's top scorer, with 13 goals, and was also named the supporters' player of the season.

The 31-year-old is out of contract this summer.
