Coventry City's Marlon King mulls over new contract

Coventry City striker Marlon King says he will not rush into signing a new deal at the Ricoh Arena.

King, the Sky Blues' top scorer this term, is out of contract in the summer.

The 31-year-old, who was named the fans' player of the season on Monday, told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "I'm not one of those players that want to sit down on a fat contract.

"I'm not going to give anybody any false hope or tell any lies. I'm going to give it some serious consideration."

Former Wigan man King joined Coventry in September after serving time in prison for sexual assault.

He was signed by then Sky Blues boss Aidy Boothroyd, whom he played under at Watford, but Andy Thorn has since taken charge of the Championship club.

In addition to King being named fans' player of the year, Richard Keogh was named the players' player of the season and Lukas Jutkiewicz won the young player award.

Gary McSheffrey won the goal of the season for his effort in the 2-2 draw at Burnley, while former manager Jimmy Hill was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the club.
