Coventry City urged to buy Ricoh Arena by Gary Hoffman

Coventry City

Former Coventry City vice chairman Gary Hoffman believes buying the Ricoh Arena is important to the Championship club's financial success.

The Sky Blues board expressed an interest in purchasing the stadium after recently avoiding administration.

Hoffman told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "I do think there is a great proposition with the stadium and football club combined.

"I am passionate about making that happen and helping all involved."

Hoffman resigned in February, unhappy with key decisions made at boardroom level, and he was followed out of the door by chairman Ray Ranson last month.

But the lifelong fan says he is still trying to find investment for the club amid reports he is putting together a bid to take over from owners SISU.

"I'm talking to some people that might be able to bring some investment in and I think that's good news," he added.

"It's not a competition. It's just making sure we've got investment for the club and investment in Coventry.

"I think we need investors that can invest in the football club and can buy the stadium in due course. That's something that's very important to turning the finances around."
