Eustace on road back
Coventry midfielder John Eustace made a surpsise return to action after almost six months out.

The combative midfielder, captain under Gordon Strachan, played 45 minutes of the Sky Blues' reserve match against Charlton Athletic.

He announced his return with a typically aggressive display, earning himself a yellow card for a rugged challenge.

Eustace sustained a serious knee injury in a pres-season friendly.

Although he led the side out against Grimsby in September, he clearly was not free of the injury and he has been out since.

"I am sure I can win back my first team place, but I might need a pre-season under my belt
John Eustace

He recently spent two weeks in a Dutch clinic, undergoing specialist physiotherapist treatment.

Eustace told Coventry's official website: "Hopefully, that 45 minutes will give me something to build on.

"I felt the odd twinge in my knee but that is to be expected.

"I will keep an eye on that over the next couple of days to make sure there is no reaction.

"I am lacking match fitness but hopefully I can play a few more reserve games to build it up enough to be available for the first team if needed.

"I am sure I can win back my first team place, but I know the other lads have been doing well and I might need a pre-season under my belt so that I can compete on a level playing field."
