Colchester United mull over Matthias Vilhjalmsson offer
Vilhjalmsson has played six times for the Iceland senior team
Colchester United boss John Ward is eyeing up a move for Iceland international Matthias Vilhjalmsson.
The 23-year-old forward has trained with the U's but is contracted to Iceland top flight side FH.
"He's keen to come and ply his trade in England, he's a very determined young man," Ward told BBC Essex.
"We'll continue to chat about the situation to see if it can be furthered, but it will not be done until January if anything does happen."
Vilhjalmsson scored six goals in 21 league appearances for FH in the 2010 season, which ended in September, and found the net four times in five cup games.
He was on target 10 times in the club's 2009 title-winning season and has scored once in six senior international caps.
He also played in FH's 4-1 defeat by Aston Villa in their 2008 Uefa Cup qualifier.
"I want to explore it a bit more, I'm not leaving it alone. We've had a good look at the guy, he's got a really good pedigree," Ward added.
He kind of typifies what I think of Scandinavian players - very athletic, strong and single minded to want to succeed

"He's seen Colchester, got a feel for the place but at the moment we can't make anything happen for another four or five weeks.
"It's something I'm pursuing to find out more information but getting him here personally was important, he expressed a liking for Colchester, both the town and the club.
"He kind of typifies what I think of Scandinavian players, very athletic, strong and single minded to want to succeed.
"I've only seen him in training, we've got clips of his games and stuff like that."
