Whitton: 'Lua-Lua not for sale'
Lomana Tresor Lua-Lua
Newcastle are watching Lua-Lua
Colchester United boss Steve Whitton has responded to the growing number of clubs interested in striker Lomano Tresor Lua-Lua, by warning the player is not for sale.

Scouts from several Premiership clubs watched the Zaire-born forward give an impressive display in the 1-1 draw with Oldham on Monday.

Colchester boss Steve Whitton has shrugged off the latest speculation by warning: "Lomana's not for sale at any price right now.

He's our player and that's how I want it to stay."

Newcastle boss Bobby Robson was among those watching the striker on Wednesday, and the club could be preparing a second offer for the player after having a 300,000 bid rejected last season.

But Whitton insisted: "We've not received any bids, but we're ready to deal with that little problem when and if it comes.

"At this time Lomana is very much our player - he is the difference between us and the other teams.

"He's on fire at the moment going forward and there's no-one else like him."
