Colchester United manager Paul Lambert has revealed his disappointment with Wycombe counterpart Peter Taylor.

The U's made a six-figure offer for defender Mike Williamson, which was rejected, and Taylor questioned how much Lambert rated the 25-year-old.

Lambert told BBC Essex: "I had Mike for two years when I was at Wycombe so I know how much I rate him.

"I think Peter tried to offload him at the start of the season so how much does he rate him?"

Colchester have had two bids for Williamson rejected, with Wycombe claiming they were for the same amount.

Lambert added: "I think I know Mike Williamson better than Peter does and I think his comments were a bit nasty."
