Reid scored his first U's goal since joining from Barnsley in the summer
Colchester defender Paul Reid said he is confident the club are capable of going on an extended winning run.
The U's 2-1 win over Northampton at the weekend was the first time the side had secured successive wins in 68 games.
Reid, who scored his first U's goal against his former club, told BBC Essex: "We've made it difficult for ourselves with the start we've had.
"But we still feel in the dressing room that we're a good team and can achieve something this year."
Colchester's victory was their second in a week and moved them up to 16th in League One.
Reid's 26th-minute header gave the U's a two-goal cushion against a side he had played more than 50 times for earlier in his career.
"A few of the coaching staff have been giving me a bit of stick that I was due a goal, so I was pleased to score," he admitted.
"It didn't really make it any more important that it was against Northampton but it's just the way it turns out, people always seem to score against their old club."
