Colchester United striker Marino Keith has announced he has retired from professional football.
The 32-year-old Scotsman has been sidelined for 18 months with an Achilles injury. He made just 12 starts in three seasons while at the U's.
The former Falkirk and Plymouth player told BBC Essex: "I feel now's the time to make the decision based on my family situation and my specialist's advice.
"Now's the time to call it a day and finally admit defeat."
Keith added: "I've been quite fortunate - I've been part of teams that have won three Championship's and won four promotions."
'It's come a bit early but in saying that I've been a professional for 12 years now so I consider myself quite fortunate to have had that chance'.
