Bankies offer on table
Clydebank are still awaiting a new owner
Clydebank are still awaiting a new owner
Clydebank's administrator has recommended a takeover offer for the club.

But the Second Division outfit's creditors will have to agree to the deal before it can go through.

It is likely that the proposed deal would see those owed money by the Bankies having to cut their losses and accept sums less than the total of the debts.

"Everyone I have spoken to since being nominated to act on behalf of the club has expressed a desire to see Clydebank survive," administrator Bryan Jackson of chartered accountants PKF told the BBC.

"Those sentiments of good will will soon be put to the test."

A statement from Jackson said: "A formal indication of an outline offer has now been received from the prospective purchaser's solicitor, which the administrator is of a mind to recommend acceptance.

"Various parties, particularly the creditors, will need to accept the administrator's proposals, which will be forthcoming if agreement is finalised with the prospective purchaser."

Jackson said that he hoped a deal would be concluded by the end of January and urged directors, shareholders, players and supporters to rally behind the club to keep it going in the meantime.

It is understood the proposed buyer is a group headed by Glasgow businessman David McGhee, although the administrator declined to name the interested party.
