Spireites keen on Niven
Chesterfield boss Roy McFarland has confirmed that he would like to bring Derek Niven back to Saltergate.

Premiership side Bolton recalled the 20-year-old midfielder from his loan spell because on injuries problems.

Niven finished a successful two-month spell with the Spireites after Saturday's win at Peterborough, which lifted the club out of the drop zone.

McFarland told his club┐s website: "Derek Niven is definitely the type of player we need for the future here."

"I would really like to try and sign him on a permanent basis if we get the chance."

Chesterfield have been able to retain the services of Leeds midfielder Jamie McMaster for a second month's loan.
