Jim Harvey's Chester have now served up back-to-back league victories
Chester boss Jim Harvey is pleased with the way his team responded to their embarrassing midweek FA Cup exit with a 3-1 league win over AFC Wimbledon.
City's fourth Blue Square Premier win of the season came just four days after their 4-0 fourth qualifying round replay defeat by Barrow.
And they are still 22 points adrift of safety at the foot of the league table.
But Harvey said: "The boys have a lot to contend with this year and that will put a smile on everybody's face."
Harvey told BBC Radio Merseyside: "At the moment they are all responding and their smiling and happy.
"So long as they give me the effort and try and pick up the information then I'll stick with them."
Despite a second straight league win, Chester are still seven points away from removing the morale-sapping minus sign against their name ahead of this weekend's rearranged trip to Grays (7 November, 1500 GMT). But Harvey can see only the positives served up from Saturday's display.
"The boys have gone out there and played extremely well," he said. "We could have been a couple up before we scored. And we could have had another couple at the end.
"It must have been a really good game to watch as there was effort commitment, football, goals.
"It was swinging from end to end and thankfully we came out on top."
