Jim Harvey hopes City can rebound on Saturday against AFC Wimbledon
Chester manager Jim Harvey admitted his team were 'hurt' by Tuesday night's 4-0 FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay hammering by Barrow at the Deva.
After drawing 1-1 in Saturday's first game at Holker Street, City were suddenly taken apart by three goals in four second-half minutes.
And, coming on top of two encouraging results, Harvey admitted: "That's a kick in the stomach for everybody.
"It'll hurt, there is no doubt about that, and it will hurt for a while."
Although not at their best on the night, City were still holding Barrow 0-0 until the 71st minute.
But Andy Bond then broke the deadlock, before Barrow top scorer Jason Walker made it two. And when Bond quickly struck again, that was game over for stunned Chester, Andy Cook's last-minute strike proving mere icing on this Cup cake.
Harvey now has the job of picking up his side for Saturday's home date with AFC Wimbledon. But he reckoned: "Come Thursday and Friday it won't be so bad.
"We'll have to get back on the training field and just get on with what we are doing.
"I thought a lot of it was OK but, once again, I don't think we were ever going to score," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"We created a few chances and showed a lot more drive when we were three down.
"But I didn't think from the start of the game we showed enough determination and desire to really compete."
