Chester part company with Davies

Simon Davies won just four of his 29 City games in charge

Chester City have parted company with manager Simon Davies following this season's poor run of results.

City, knocked out of the FA Cup by League One Millwall last weekend, are 19th in League Two after winning just three out of 15 league matches.

Davies, 34, who took over following Bobby Williamson's sacking in March, signed a two-year deal in April.

Assistant manager Wayne Allison is expected to be offered a caretaker role for Saturday's game with Morecambe.

Chester have suffered some heavy defeats this season, shipping 11 goals in their first two games (6-0 at Dagenham & Redbridge and 5-2 against Leeds in the Carling Cup). And their recent 6-1 defeat at Rochdale was part of a run that has seen them win just once in 11 games.

Allied to last term's struggles, when City only just avoided relegation, former Manchester United youngster Davies presided over just four wins in his 29 games at the helm.
