Cheltenham move to ease injuries

Martin Allen has signed two players to help Cheltenham Town through their current injury problems.

Midfielder Frankie Artus, 20, joins on loan for a month from Bristol City, while defender Ajet Shehu, 18, has signed non-contract terms.

"We are a bit short now due to injuries to key players and it is a real boost," Allen told his club's official website.

Allen also thanked the board for its help, having previously stated his belief there was no money for signings.

According to Allen Shehu will not cost Cheltenham anything, with the Kosovan-born youngster - who has trained with the club before - effectively on an extended trial.

"We will not be paying him anything and he will be playing for us to give himself the chance to become a professional footballer."

Allen also revealed the state of some of the club's injury problems with midfielder Michael Pook said to be recovering well, but still a fortnight away from playing.

Of the four players hurt in the 5-4 defeat at home by Bradford City, there was no update on defender Drissa Diallo who is still a doubt for Saturday's trip to Darlington.

Winger Oliver Bozanic has already been ruled out with a knee injury and is joined by striker Elvis Hammond whose ankle problem is described as "not bad bad" by Allen.

He also revealed he is waiting for results of Wednesday's scan on captain Shane Duff's calf, but the centre half has already been declared unfit for the weekend.
