Midfielder Alex Russell is delighted to have joined Cheltenham on a permanent basis from Bristol City.
The 35-year-old had a loan spell at Whaddon Road last season and has signed a two-year contract.
Russell told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "I had other offers and picked the one that I thought was best for me.
"Being at Cheltenham last season meant I knew the club, the lads and manager. Being in League One, rather than League Two, makes a big difference."
He added: "There were some good League Two clubs who had been in touch with me, so it was a hard decision but, at the end of the day, I'd rather be playing at Leeds and Leicester rather than at Boston and Dagenham."
