Pizarro enjoyed two successful
seasons at Bremen before moving to Munich
Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro has rejoined Werder Bremen after spending last season on loan at the German club.
The 30-year-old, who had two years at Bremen earlier in his career, scored 17 goals to help them win the German Cup and reach the final of the Uefa Cup.
The Peruvian returned to Chelsea at the end of the season but had Nicolas Anelka, Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou as competition so decided to move on.
A Chelsea statement confirmed: "Pizarro has signed a permanent deal at Bremen."
Pizarro signed for the Blues in the summer of 2007 on a free transfer from Bayern Munich, where he played for six seasons after arriving from Bremen.
However, despite scoring on his debut, against Birmingham, Pizarro found himself out of the picture after the manager who signed him, Jose Mourinho, left the club in late 2007.
He went on to score only two goals in 31 appearances for Chelsea.
