Drogba to decide Chelsea future

Didier Drogba is still keeping his options open

Didier Drogba's agent claims he will sign a new Chelsea contract if the striker does not find another club in the next 10 days.

Drogba, 30, has been linked with Barcelona, AC Milan and a move that would re-unite him with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan.

But his agent Thierno Seydi says he may stay and sign a long-term Chelsea deal.

He said: "Didier has given himself 10 days. If nothing happens he'll stay and extend his contract by two years."

Seydi added: "He doesn't see himself starting training in a few days with Chelsea and then leaving to a new club.

"The reality of November is not that of today. At the time Didier was affected by departure of Jose Mourinho who he was very close to. Today, there is nothing to say that he won't stay at Chelsea."

Drogba has seemed destined for the Stamford Bridge exit door for months but recently looked to be reconsidering his options.

Marseille president Pape Diouf, meanwhile, claims to be "amused" by an appeal launched by his club's fans to raise the 44 million US dollars they believe necessary to buy Drogba.

The fans have launched an audacious bid to bring the striker back to the club he left four years ago.

Despite suffering a setback when their website crashed, the new appeal reached 1.5 million US dollars on Sunday.

The fans behind the initiative admitted that it would be impossible to raise the money to buy Drogba, instead insisting that the point of the project was to alert Diouf to the fans' wishes.

"I'm surprised and amused. It shows the true passion of our supporters," Diouf told regional newspaper La Provence.

However, he joked that even if the fans could raise the money for the transfer, that alone would not be enough.

He added: "I know what Drogba earns at Chelsea!"
