Chelsea must wait until Saturday to win their first top-flight title for 50 years after nearest challengers Arsenal beat Tottenham 1-0 at Highbury.
Arsenal ensured that the Blues would not be celebrating without kicking a ball as Jose Reyes bagged a first-half winner against Spurs.
The result means Chelsea can earn their first top-division crown since 1955 if they beat Bolton at the Reebok Stadium.
The Blues are still 11 points ahead of Arsenal with four games left to play.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger refused to give up their title, despite Chelsea's massive advantage.
"We have the pride of defending champions and real champions fight for as long as there is the slightest chance, whereas other people give up," said Wenger.
"As long as we have a one per cent chance, we will carry on trying.
"Chelsea have not won at Bolton yet. I think it will be very difficult for them there. You can never choose too much when you win the title, you win it when you can.
"They have a Champions League game against Liverpool on Wednesday so it won't be easy. Bolton are a difficult side to play and can beat anyone on their day."
