Chelsea and Rennes have agreed a deal that will see Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech move to London this summer.
Petr Cech is heading to Stamford Bridge on 1 July
Rennes sporting director Pierre Dreossi did not reveal how much Chelsea have paid for Cech.
But reports in the Czech media over the past few weeks claim Chelsea will pay around £9m for the 21-year-old.
Cech arrived at Rennes in the summer of 2002 and is the number one keeper for the Czech Republic, who have qualified for Euro 2004 in Portugal.
The young shot-stopper was also reportedly being pursued by Real Madrid and Inter Milan.
Even though Chelsea's Italian goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini is rated among the finest in the Premiership, it has become unofficial club policy since the Roman Abramovich takeover in the summer to have at least two high-quality players per position.
Cech will be competing for a first-team place at Stamford Bridge with Cudicini, Marco Ambrosio, Jurgen Macho and Neil Sullivan.
