Chelsea are reported to be preparing a £5m bid for Charlton midfielder Scott Parker.
Parker could be the latest player to join Stamford Bridge's Russian revolution when the transfer window opens in January.
Chelsea's attempts to sign Parker during the summer were thwarted when he signed a new five-year contract.
His capture would take Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic's spending past £115m.
Parker had a breakthrough season last term, when he was named supporters' player of the year, BBC London young player of the year, and earned a call-up to the England squad.
But Charlton manager Alan Curbishley would be reluctant to sell a player who is the heartbeat of his midfield.
Curbishley would put the highest possible price on Parker's head, but Abramovic's spending power means that Cheslea are unlikely to be frightened off.
