Desailly joined Chelsea five years ago

Marcel Desailly will stay with Chelsea until 2005 after agreeing a one-year extension to his current contract.
The 34-year-old, who joined Chelsea from AC Milan for £4.6m in 1998, now seems certain to end his career at Stamford Bridge.
"Chelsea
have offered me a contract extension of a year and I have accepted,
which means I will be at the Blues until 2005," the central defender said on his personal website.
The France international had a hip injury last season and then struggled to regain his first-team place after William Gallas and John Terry formed a partnership at the heart of the Chelsea defence.
That led to speculation that the Blues would allow Desailly to leave this summer to trim their wage bill but the arrival of new owner Roman Abramovich has changed matters.
