Italian giants AC Milan have completed the signing of midfielder Sam Dalla Bona from Chelsea.

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year deal with Milan for a reported fee of £1m.

"I am delighted to be back in Italy and in Italian football and above all with Milan," Dalla Bona told the club's television station Milan Channel.

"Milan have been interested in me for more than a year and that can only make you happy.

"I have spoken to my friend (Milan midfielder) Massimo Donati, who says he feels great here. I can't wait to see it all with my own eyes.

"I have learnt a lot from English football and I want to show how much I have developed.

"I know Milan have a star-studded midfield but I am just going to arrive, work hard and try and show the coach (Carlo Ancelotti) my worth."

Dalla Bona will join his new team-mates at Milan's training ground, Milanello, on Tuesday.

The athletic central midfielder moved to Chelsea in October 1998 at the age of 17 from Atalanta's junior side.

He made 73 appearances for the Blues and scored six goals for them but never secured a regular starting place.

He was transfer-listed last Thursday after turning down a contract extension.
