Desailly: Petit is a big signing
Marcel Desailly
Desailly sees Petit's arrival as a step in right direction
France captain Marcel Desailly has welcomed Emmanuel Petit's arrival at Chelsea.

Petit completed his 7.5m move to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona on Tuesday after snubbing Manchester United's late swoop.

And Desailly is convinced his friend has made the right move following a nightmare season at the Nou Camp.

He told his official website: "This is very positive. His arrival corresponds to the club's wish to strengthen the midfield.

"Manu will bring his experience to protect the defence which will help us a lot, especially for our away games which caused us some troubles last season.

"He wanted to come back to England after a difficult experience with Barcelona."
