Haynes scored six goals in 33 games during his year at Barnsley
Charlton Athletic have beaten London rivals Millwall to the signing of Barnsley centre-forward Danny Haynes for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old, who was a target for the Lions, returns to the side where he started his career and has signed an 18-month contract at The Valley.
Addicks manager Chris Powell told the club website: "He's a good player and one with pace.
"He has played on the right during his career, but I see him as a striker."
He added: "We don't have any real out-and-out pace in the side. We are a good side that plays a lot of good football with our movement and passing ability, but most teams have that pace, and it gives us a different option."
The former England Under-19 international, who only joined Barnsley from Bristol City one year ago, has featured 13 times so far this season, last playing for Barnsley on Boxing Day.
