Dickson signs new Charlton deal

Charlton Athletic

Striker Chris Dickson has put pen-to-paper on a one-year extension at Charlton Athletic.

The 23-year-old, who has made two substitute appearances for the Addicks this season, will stay at The Valley until 2010.

Dickson is currently on international duty with Ghana and is hoping to win his first cap for his country.

The striker told the club's website: "The gaffer has clearly shown faith in me by offering me a new deal."

Last season Dickson was sidelined for six months after sustaining a serious knee injury but after fighting his way back to full fitness.

Dickson added: "Now is the time for me to start repaying him, the club, and most importantly, the fans, who have continued to support me.

"It's turning out to be a good week for me.

"Negotiations had been ongoing for a while now, but i'm glad we have all come to an agreement which keeps me at the club for an extra year."

Dickson joined the Addicks from Ryman Division One South side Dulwich Hamlet in March 2007 for an initial fee of 35,000.

Although he was illegible until the following season as the deal took place outside the transfer window.
