Gibbs not offered new Valley deal

Cory Gibbs
Cory Gibbs has suffered an injury-ravaged two years at The Valley

Injury-plagued Charlton defender Cory Gibbs is to leave The Valley after not being awarded a new contract.

Gibbs has struggled with injury since joining the Addicks on a free transfer from Dutch side Feyenoord in May 2006.

A chondrial defect on the cartilage in his right knee caused his withdrawal from the 2006 World Cup in Germany, prior to his arrival at The Valley.

And the 28-year-old US international has not managed a single first team appearance for Charlton in two seasons.

Surgery ruled him out for the entire 2006/07 campaign and he has been hampered by three broken metatarsal bones this season, which have enabled him to make just five reserve team appearances.

He will officially leave the club when his contract runs out on 30 June.
