Newton seeks transfer
Shaun Newton
Newton has played 236 league games for Charlton
Shaun Newton has been placed on the transfer list by Charlton Athletic at his own request.

The 25-year-old winger, who has came up through the ranks at the Valley, has become frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities.

He has failed to start a Premiership game this season during the club's successful return to the top flight although he did score the winner in the FA Cup victory over Dagenham.

I have reluctantly agreed to his request
  Alan Curbishley
Addicks boss Alan Curbishley granted a written request from the player, who has made more than 250 appearances for Athletic.

Curbishley told the club's official website: "I understand his position and because of the lack of first-team football Shaun has had I have reluctantly agreed to his request.

"Shaun has been an integral part of the success of this club for the last four or five years."
