Lennon voices Boruc sale concerns

Celtic coach Neil Lennon
Boruc's form has attracted many admirers

Neil Lennon admits that Celtic could find it difficult to keep Artur Boruc if the goalkeper plays well at the European Championship with Poland.

Boruc has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move to clubs like AC Milan and Bayern Munich.

"If Artur has a good Euro 2008 we might get an offer that might be impossible to keep him," said Celtic coach Lennon.

"We want to hold on to our better players, but if you've got a ridiculous offer it might be hard to refuse."

The former Celtic captain returned to the club as a coach in April less than a season after going to play his football in England.

Lennon's return coincided with a string of results that took the team from an unlikely position to win the SPL title.

The Northern Irishman says he has not had talks with Gordon Strachan about his role for the forthcoming season.

But he hopes the manager will stay on at the club, despite speculation suggesting he may be about to leave.

"You'd have to ask Gordon what his thoughts are for his future," said Lennon.

"But he's in a really strong position now, and I'd be disappointed if he upped and walked away from what he's built.

"I think he's built on every year - he's formed almost three different teams since he's been here."

Lennon admits that Strachan is a very different character to Martin O'Neill, who brought him to the club in 2000.

But he says he enjoys working with his current boss.

"Gordon prepares so meticulously for matches, and he feels for the players.

"He got a wee bit of criticism, but he stuck to his principles and came up trumps again.

"But he knows the criticism comes with being an Old Firm manager."
