Wilson is hoping Rangers European adventure is a distraction
Celtic defender Mark Wilson hopes Rangers' Uefa Cup final appearance dents the domestic ambitions of their Scottish Premier League title rivals.
The Parkhead side are four points ahead of the Ibrox side, who have two games in hand over the SPL leaders.
"No disrespect to anyone else, but they might find it a bit of a comedown when they come back to playing at the weekend at Fir Park," Wilson said.
"All we can do is look after ourselves and hope for the best."
Rangers have still to play Motherwell, St Mirren and Aberdeen but cannot win the title until May 22, the last day of the season, when they visit Pittodrie and Celtic travel to Wilson's former club Dundee United.
And the right-back believes the distraction of reaching a European final might hinder the cause of their Glasgow neighbours.
"Even if it comes to the situation where we're going to Tannadice needing a win and Rangers are going to Aberdeen for three points, you still just don't know," he told the Evening Times.
"We have never given up hope that we could retain the title.
"A lot of people had written us off not so long ago, but we have had some massive results and we believe that there's every chance we might just need one more big one."
