Uefa drops Celtic chanting case

Scott Brown trudges off after the 1-0 defeat in Barcelona
Thousands of Celtic fans travelled to see Celtic lose at the Nou Camp

Uefa has dropped its investigation into alleged sectarian chanting by Celtic supporters in Barcelona.

European football's governing body was looking at video footage from Celtic's Champions League visit to the Nou Camp.

However, a Uefa spokesman said: "We've had a look into that, but no disciplinary case will be opened. There was not enough evidence."

A Celtic spokesman said: "We never felt that there was any case to answer and we welcome confirmation of this."

The club was not contacted by Uefa and the spokesman added: "Celtic and its supporters enjoy a unique relationship with FC Barcelona.

"Our recent visit to the city was very well received once again by the club, the people of the city and the Catalan police.

"Indeed, the conduct of our fans was also applauded by Uefa."
