Celtic's Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe may not play again this year after damaging his Achilles.
The 28-year-old Cameroonian was hurt by a late tackle in Wednesday's Champions League victory over AC Milan.
With Mark Wilson recovering from a knee operation, the versatile Gary Caldwell may be asked to fill in at right-back.
Wilson has been dogged by injury and manager Gordon Strachan revealed that the player had undergone specialist treatment in the United States.
Perrier-Doumbe won a summer deal at Celtic Park after arriving on loan from Rennes in January.
The defender was on target with a late goal in Celtic's 1-0 triumph over Dunfermline in May's Scottish Cup final.
