Double injury concern for Celtic

Beattie was injured on reserve duty

Celtic duo Aiden McGeady and Craig Beattie are fitness concerns ahead of Saturday's trip to Dundee United.

Midfielder McGeady damaged an ankle in training with the Republic of Ireland, while striker Beattie was hurt in the reserve victory over Rangers.

Beattie aggravated a hamstring injury after just 26 minutes of the 3-2 win at Broadwood on Tuesday.

Celtic coach Kenny McDowall said: "It is very disappointing because Craig has been working extremely hard."

The 22-year-old forward has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons.

He picked up a hamstring injury last November against United at Tannadice and missed the rest of the campaign.

But Beattie has featured in five games this season, scoring against St Mirren in the CIS Insurance Cup.

"He is very disappointed," continued Beattie. "There is nothing worse than when players keep breaking down with the same injury but we are hopeful that is just a wee setback.

"Craig is a bit dejected. We'll assess him in the morning but fingers crossed it's only a minor set-back."
