Celtic captain Jackie McNamara has insisted that he knows nothing about a possible move to Colorado Rapids.
Jackie McNamara has a testimonial planned
"I have to wait and see what happens here," the midfielder, whose contract ends in the summer, told Glasgow's Evening Times.
"But certainly any American interest is news to me. I know nothing about it."
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill told his club's website that he expected the Scotland international to remain with the club next season.
"There are a few contracts to sort out at the moment and Jackie's is one of them," he said.
"I mentioned to him some months ago that it was my choice for him to stay longer than his contract and he thought that was good enough."
O'Neill knew nothing of interest from the USA but did not see a parallel with Liam Miller, the midfielder who signed for Manchester United on a pre-contract agreement last season.
"I think Jackie's situation is pretty different in that he has a deserved testimonial coming up," said the Celtic boss.
"But until it is sorted then anything can happen and I would hope Jackie will be with us next year."
Meanwhile, midfielder Neil Lennon is reportedly due to resume contract talks on Friday.
