Harte keen on transfer to Celtic
Ian Harte
Ian Harte says joining Celtic would be a dream move
Celtic have been alerted to former Leeds United left-back Ian Harte's desire to play for the Glasgow club.

Harte signed a four-year deal with Spanish outfit Levante in July 2004 but wishes to leave following their relegation from La Liga.

The 27-year-old Republic international said: "It is every Irish boys dream to play in Celtic's green and white hoops.

"I need to be playing first-team football at the highest level with the World Cup looming."

Harte, who has also been linked with Sunderland, signed a four-year deal with Levante but could leave the Valencia-based outfit for about 500,000.

He will also have been advised about life in Glasgow by Celtic defender Johan Mjallby, who has left Levante for AIK Stockholm.

And Harte knows Gordon Strachan, having been a young Leeds team-mate of the Celtic manager, who has been made aware of the defender's comments.

"I have noted them and we know what we are doing there," he said.

Strachan signed Mo Camara during the summer to fill the left-back spot, but the former Burnley defender has failed to impress so far in the Scottish Premier League.
