Barrow midfielder Andy Bond considers Carlisle switch

Bond (l) has made 70 league appearances for Barrow since signing in 2006

Barrow midfielder Andy Bond is considering a move to Cumbrian neighbours Carlisle United, BBC Radio Cumbria report.

The 24 year-old is out-of-contract this summer after turning down the offer of a new deal at Holker Street.

Barrow boss Dave Bayliss said: "Carlisle are one of the clubs who want to sign him but there are other League One clubs who want him."

"I just hope the next club he goes to is the right one for him."

Wigan-born Bond began his career as a trainee with Crewe where he became a regular in Alex's reserve side.

He's got to make sure it's the right move for him because this one is a big one for him career-wise

Unable to make a first-team breakthrough, Bond had a successful loan spell at Lancaster City in 2006 before being released by Crewe in the summer later that year.

After joining Barrow that summer, Bond was named players' player of the year in his first season with the club.

The following campaign saw him become an integral part of the Bluebirds' Blue Square North promotion-winning side.

Impressive displays over the last two seasons have drawn the attention of several Football League clubs.

Bayliss said: "He's a cracking lad and has never given us a day's bother. He's not money-orientated...he just wants to move up with his career."

"I said to him if you are genuinely interested (in Carlisle) then go up and have a look because they are a great club.

"He's got to make sure it's the right move for him because this one is a big one for him career-wise," the Barrow boss added.
