Carlisle United's Brunton Park ground will host Saturday's clash with Swindon, despite heavy rainfall and unprecedented flooding, the club says

"The pitch is very firm, and there is no need at all for a pitch inspection," said a club spokesman after round-the-clock efforts to clear floodwater

"We have gone from a situation where one end of the pitch was covered in six to eight inches of standing water to a playing surface that will need a lawnmower ahead of kick-off," said a spokesman

No water is visible on the pitch on Saturday morning after work to clear the pitch by stadium manager Dave Mitchell and his ground - although Swindon eventually win the game 1-0

While Carlisle's pitch has recovered, Workington Reds' game with Solihull Moors in the FA Trophy is postponed because of heavy flooding
