Hackney joined Carlisle from Woodley Sport in February 2005
Carlisle United have rejected a bid for winger Simon Hackney from League One rivals Colchester United.
Hackney, 25, attracted a loan and then permanent bid from the U's but managing director John Nixon admitted it was a simple decision for the club to make.
"Colchester have now made two enquiries about Simon Hackney, but both have been turned down," he told the club website.
"He is clearly a player that they like, but we had no hesitation in turning the enquiries away."
The Manchester-born wideman joined the Cumbrians from non-league Woodley Sports in February 2005, and has since made 138 appearances, scoring 17 goals.
He signed a three-year deal with the club in September 2007.
