Keeper Collin trains at Carlisle

Carlisle United

Carlisle United will run the rule over Workington Reds goalkeeper Adam Collin after inviting the player to train with the Cumbrians.

Collin, 24, will train twice a week at Brunton Park with a view to a permanent switch to the League One club.

Reds boss Darren Edmondson told BBC Radio Cumbria: "If Carlisle like what they see, we will be talking about him signing a pre-contract with them."

Collin, who joined the Reds in 2004, started his career with Newcastle.

"Nothing has changed in relation to Adam playing for us," Edmondson said.

"He will continue to train with us and also play in Blue Square North."

Collin, who had spells on loan at Doncaster Rovers and Oldham Athletic before being moving to Borough Park, recently played his 200th game for the West Cumbrian club.

Sheffield Wednesday, Hibernian and Hereford have all expressed an interest in the player over recent seasons.

"I have had a couple of good chats recently with Greg [Abbott] at Carlisle and he is very keen to establish closer links between our two clubs," Edmondson said.

"I think that's something we could both gain from, and not necessarily just with players."
