Cardiff upbeat on Marshall injury

David Marshall in pain against Ipswich
Marshall went off injured after 46 minutes of the Ipswich match

Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall will be fit for Saturday's Championship clash with Preston North End.

The Scottish international was forced out of Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town, their third successive loss, with a groin injury in the 46th minute.

Scans confirmed Marshall sustained a groin strain but Cardiff medics insist the 24-year-old will be fit to face Preston at the Cardiff City Stadium.

"He felt it in training then it's gone again," said Bluebirds boss Dave Jones.

The Cardiff manager - who criticised stand-in keeper Peter Enckelman - is suffering a serious case of manager of the month curse as after winning the October award, Jones' team have failed to win a game in November - and slipped out of the play-off zone.

And Jones has warned his players he will make changes against Preston after three successive defeats and a draw.

"I have to bring players in, the squad's there," he said.

"Players will knock on my door and ask why they have been left out.

"All I'll have to do is show them the video of the last 45 minutes [against Ipswich].

"The players never made the right decisions after the break and it was a game we should never have lost.

"Enckelman came on and was dithering with his decision making - it sets a tone for everybody, they were jittery.

"When the crowd went against the players they started to panic and some of them never wanted the ball.

"The midfield and front line were non-existent and we hardly strung two passes together.

"That's the poorest I've seen us play at the new Cardiff City Stadium."
